Can your razors be used on all parts of my body?

The Leaf and The Twig can be used just like any other razor. They both work great from head to toe (literally).

How do Leaf Shave razors differ from safety razors?

Our razors look different than traditional double-edge ("DE") safety razors, they’ve been updated for a more modern shaving experience.

The Leaf differs primarily in that it accepts 1, 2, or 3 blades and has a unique pivoting head design. It is the easiest to use plastic-free shave on earth.

While The Twig is a more classic safety razor, it is only a single-edge opposed to a double-edge, and it has an advanced loading mechanism. The single-blade design, along with a head that is 2x smaller than a standard DE razor, makes it the ideal razor for tight places and precision shaving.

Can Leaf Shave razors be used by both men and women?

Of course! We make razors for people. Our razors are good for every body, everywhere. That means no matter what gender, body type, or spot you’d like to shave, we’re here for you.

Are there any difference in the finishes?

We bring finishes in and out of the lineup frequently based on demand, performance, and availability. Please visit the product page to see which finishes are currently being produced

The matte finishes (black, silver) are generally 'softer' and are more likely to show wear, tear and love over time. The reflective finishes (chrome, mercury, gold, rose gold) are harder and thus more resilient overall.

Rose Gold is produced using copper to tint the finish "rosy." Copper has, naturally, a tendency to patina over time. Therefore, the rose gold finish may very well tarnish over time as a result.

How do I know that I’ve loaded my Leaf Shave razor correctly?

All Leaf Shave razor heads feature two protrusions that are made to fit the notches on your razor blades. Ensure they’re matched up on both sides and that the blade is sitting flat to be sure your blades have been loaded correctly. For more info on using your razor, visit How To Shave.

How do I customize my shave with The Leaf?

It may take some experimentation to determine how many blades and what blade positions work best for you with The Leaf razor. Your shave will get progressively closer as blades are loaded closer to the bottom position. 


Use only the top and middle blade spots for a mild shave (great for sensitive skin or areas). Use all three spots, or only the bottom and middle spots for the closest shave possible (great for smooth skin and shaving less frequently).

How many blades do I need in order to be able to shave with The Leaf?

While you can use as many as three blades at once, you need only one blade to shave with The Leaf. Choosing how many to load comes down to your personal preference, skin sensitivity, and hair type.

How do I load the razors and remove the blades?

To load and remove the blades from The Leaf, simply unscrew the head of your razor. Then, be sure to handle with care as you add or remove the blades.

To load or remove blades from The Twig, unscrew the handle to open the razor head. Then, carefully add or remove your blade.

How do I make sure that I don’t cut myself when shaving?

When shaving with any razor, it is always possible to cut your skin. Please take care with the blades, they are sharp.

That being said, The Leaf and The Twig are designed to give you the best shaving experience possible and are tuned for safety and ease of use. Importantly: do not press hard while shaving, let the weight of the metal do the work. Once you take a few passes with whichever Leaf Shave razor you choose, we’re sure you’ll quickly feel confident in your technique.

Do your razors help prevent irritation like razor burn and ingrown hairs?

The short answer is, yes.

How? The Leaf is designed with blades spaced further apart than your standard multi-blade razor. This eliminates tugging, pulling, and most importantly, shaving below the surface of the skin. And The Twig uses only one blade, which also accomplishes this.

Do your razors work on sensitive skin? How about coarse hair?

Our razors are good for all skin and hair types. The Leaf has a customizable blade head that allows you to pick blade positions based on how close you’d like your shave to be. Find out more at How To Shave.

How do I care for my razors?

Give your razor head a thorough rinse inside and out after shaving to get rid of any shaving soap or hair. Rinse the blades, and then allow them to dry (or blow the water off of them) before re-loading.

Periodically run your razor through a deeper clean. Use a drop of dish soap and a soft brush (like an old toothbrush) and scrub in the nooks and crannies. For tougher build-ups or hard water marks, soak your razor in a solution of 1 part white vinegar and 1 part water for up to 10 minutes, then scrub with a drop of dish soap and a soft brush before towel drying.

How often should I change blades?

It definitely varies person-to-person (depending on how thick your hair is, how often you shave, how much you're shaving, and more)—some swap their blades every 2 weeks, while others will go more than 2 months between changes.

We suggest experimenting to find what works for you. You should change them when you start feeling that the blades are dull (on average every 6 to 10 shaves).

If you do keep your blades in for weeks at a time, we suggest a deep rinse after every couple uses. Just open up the head of the razor, remove the blades, give it a good rinse to clear out any soap residue or hair, and load the blades back in place. This will keep the razor in peak condition when coupled with a periodic cleaning routine.

How do I recycle the blades? What should I do with my blade recycling tin when it’s full?

We make it easy to recycle used safety razor blades. Our blade takeback program lets you send blades back to us for recycling through scrap metal streams. To do this, simply secure the tin, pack it up and send it to us at: Leaf Shave c/o RECYCLE, 40 Taugwonk Spur Road Unit 30, Stonington, CT 06378.


Our tin will hold a couple of hundred blades, so you won’t have to send them in to us too often. Additionally, we'll accept blades back in any durable tin, you could for example upcycle an old mints tin!

Alternatively, we recommend taking them to your local scrap metal operation or consulting local recycling guidelines to be sure you’re disposing of your used blades correctly.

Do I have to buy your blades or can I use generic blades?

We’ve specifically designed our single-edge half blades for the highest quality shave possible. However, any standard double-edge razor blade will work. Just snap them in half (while it's in its paper wrap!) before use with Leaf Shave razors (otherwise, you won’t be able to load them).

Are Leaf Shave razors and blades TSA friendly?

You can carry-on your Leaf Shave razor, however it must be empty of blades. TSA wants safety razor blades put in your checked luggage. Additionally, you can fly without blades and purchase them at your destination (many pharmacies will carry small packs of safety razor blades).

Where are your products made?

The Leaf razor is manufactured in Taiwan, The Twig razor is manufactured in China, and our single-edge blades are made in Egypt.

Why are your products priced higher than plastic razors?

Our products are made to last and are backed by a lifetime warranty. Shaving with Leaf unlocks the very inexpensive (but high quality) use of safety razor blades which allows you to replace your blades at about one-tenth the cost of disposable plastic cartridges.

You will see a return on your investment quickly, saving on overpriced disposable blades. We do understand that the upfront cost can feel a bit expensive, so we offer the option to pay in manageable installments at checkout. Simply select checkout with 'Klarna' at the payments stage.

Orders

What payment options do you accept?

We accept the following payment cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, JCB, Discover, Diners Club, Elo) as well as the following accelerated checkouts (Shop Pay, Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal).

Important International Shipping Information

For international orders, discounted shipping is calculated at checkout. We offer two worldwide shipping options through the US Post Office, and via DHL or FedEx. When orders are shipped out using USPS, the recipient country’s postal service will be responsible for tracking updates and delivery once the package reaches the destination country. If the recipient country’s postal service does not deliver packages (ex. UAE), the recipient will be responsible for pick-up. We strongly recommend including your phone number and/or a PO Box, if applicable.

Standard USPS Shipping will typically take anywhere between 14-21 business days to deliver the package but can take up to 30 business days in some cases. Economy Shipping does not always include real-time, up to date tracking information, depending on the recipient country’s postal service.

Expedited shipping via DHL or FedEx can take anywhere from 6-10 business days for delivery, but can sometimes take up to 14 business days in some cases. Express Shipping includes up to date tracking information. Additional customs processing fees may be applicable.

These timelines for international shipments are estimates and are not guaranteed. If your country charges import fees, it may take longer to receive your package. We strongly recommend international customers to include their phone number at the end of their shipping address.

VAT, GST, or any other country duties/taxes/fees are not pre-paid for international orders or included in the shipping cost calculated at checkout and may be levied upon delivery. These additional charges for customs clearance must be fulfilled by the recipient. We have no control over these charges, nor can we predict what they may be.

If your package is undeliverable and returned to us because you’re not there, an incorrect address was provided, refuse to pay import taxes, or moved without notifying us, the shipping cost for your order will not be refunded. The return shipping cost will be deducted from your refund.

What countries do you ship to?

We ship to many international locations including Canada, Mexico, UK, and most European and Asia Pacific countries. If you have any questions on a specific market, please contact us at hello@leafshave.com.

How long will it take for my (U.S.) order to arrive?

We ship within 2 business days of receiving your order. Transit to U.S. addresses typically takes 3-5 business days, unless expedited shipping is selected at checkout (or we're in the middle of a pandemic).

How does your free U.S. shipping work?

Simple, we offer free shipping within the U.S. on all orders over $25 dollars.

Can I send a Leaf Shave razor to someone as a gift?

To send a gift, just fill out your billing info as you normally would and add your recipient’s mailing address to have it sent to them.

Can I change or cancel my order after purchase?

If you’d like to cancel or change your order after purchase, just send us an email at hello@leafshave.com and we’ll do our best to fulfill your request.

How does your 30-day guarantee work?

If you’re not happy with your Leaf Shave purchase, reach out to us and receive authorization for return. Simply send the products back to Leaf within 30 days of receiving your order, and we’ll refund 100% of what you paid (less discounts). This returns guarantee is only applicable to razors purchased directly from Leaf Shave on our website. This does not extend to razors purchased through any 3rd party retailer, nor to any razor purchased second-hand.

How does your lifetime warranty work?

If anything goes wrong with your Leaf Shave razor that is the result of a manufacturing defect, reach out to us at hello@leafshave.com to assess the use of your razor's warranty. You must be the original purchaser (with proof of purchase) or if it was a gift, must be able to verify the original order or purchaser information. If the issue is covered under warranty, we will repair or replace the razor. Additional details can be found on the Terms of Use page.

Are Leaf Shave razors recyclable?

If for any reason a razor has reached the end of its life, it can be stripped down and recycled through scrap-metal streams.

Is Leaf Shave cruelty free?

Yes, all Leaf Shave products are cruelty-free.

How do you incorporate sustainability into your business? And why is this important to you?

We set out to create the best shaving experience possible, and it turned out that was also a more sustainable razor. We’re all in on sustainability—plastic-free shipping, a blade recycling program, and as a business, we put our finances to work aggressively offsetting our entire carbon footprint.
