Hi, I'm one of the founders at Leaf Shave,
I started my career developing complex medical technologies. I was fulfilled by making a real mark on the world. Helping people get better.
But all my life, I was haunted by my shave. My skin is sensitive, my hair coarse. My needs are more heightened than your average shaver. “Big Shave” left me behind. Classic safety razors left me wanting.
So I designed the Twig Razor for me, the toughest case I know. Which is why I know it’s going to work for you.

TWIG VS THORN
ONE MODEL, TWO VERSIONS
Our face shaving razor comes in two versions: Twig (mild), and Thorn (medium). They are identical, except the Thorn model has an extra 0.2mm of space under the blade (blade gap). This means that the Thorn allows for more contact with your skin.
We recommend the Twig for lighter hair-growth and the Thorn for coarser or tougher beards.

SINGLE-EDGE
The head is less than half the size of a standard double-edge razor. Fit in tight places easily, maintain maximum visibility for precision shaving, and confidently shave in concave areas.
NON-PROPRIETARY BLADES
Leaf Shave blade refills start at 15¢ each, but all of our tools are compatible with standard safety blades (even the double-edge variety) so that you have the freedom to use whatever blade you wish.
INTUITIVE BLADE ANGLE
You don’t need a PhD in wet shaving to use these razors. We’ve back weighted the handle to give you more control at the point of shave and engineered in a more “cartridge-like” angle so that the experience is seamless.

A QUICK GUIDE TO FACE SHAVING
STEP 1—THE SETUP
PREPARE YOUR SKIN
Clean your skin first with an exfoliating face wash to remove dirt and impurities that may irritate your skin while shaving. This will also help clear out dead skin which can reduce the occurrence of razor bumps.
Skin and hair should be warm and wet when shaving—warm skin opens pores and extends hair outward allowance for an easier, closer shave. Also, wet hair is significantly easier to cut than dry hair, allowing the razor’s blade to slice through it with less force.
Massage in a layer of Shave Oil and then Lather up with a bar of Shave Soap for extra protection and cushion while shaving. Make sure your hair and skin is completely coated.
You are now ready to shave.
UNDERSTANDING HAIR GRAIN
The concept of “grain of hair growth” refers to the natural direction in which hair grows from the skin. When discussing shaving, “shaving with the grain” means shaving in the same direction as the hair grows, which typically reduces irritation and trauma to hair follicle. Conversely, “shaving against the grain” means shaving in the opposite direction of hair growth, often providing a closer shave but potentially causing more irritation.
Whether you shave with, against, or some combination of the two depends on the goal of your shave and how your skin reacts to shaving. When switching to Twig or Thorn razors you will find additional benefits from the single sharp blade in reducing irritation or instances of ingrown hair.
STEP 2—THE SHAVE
TEST IT OUT
Especially if this is your first time, you may want to make your first pass shaving 'with the grain' of hair growth. Go slow, and take your time.
TIP—When working around your ears, pin them back to keep from nicking yourself. The same can be said for shaving along the top of your ear.
MAP YOUR SHAVE
Start high on your cheekbone at or under your sideburn line. Move in short, quick strokes. This might be different than long-drawn strokes you're used to. Shave down along your cheek to your jaw line, with the grain of hair growth.
Shave along your chin and underneath your nose, taking care around your mouth. This skin is softer, stretch it out underneath where the blade is for a smoother surface.
Finish the other side of your face, and move along to your next. Neck hair often grows in different directions than your cheek hair. Make your first pass with-the-grain or across-the-grain of hair growth to avoid unnecessary irritation.
Keep the razor's head skimming along the surface of your skin, do not press hard into it. The blade will shave most effectively when it's skimming across the surface.
Rinse your razor throughout, as needed.
If you need a second pass with the grain of hair growth for that perfectly smooth finish, re-lather and repeat the process.
STEP 3—SKIN CARE
RE-BALANCE OILS
You've done the hard part. Now treat yourself right. Rinse your face with cold water. Finish your shave with an oil. If your skin is prone to irritation or redness, choose Calming Serum. If not, you can confidently use Shave Oil after your shave.
This will provide needed moisture and protection, and keep your skin happy.
Spending time outside? Don't forget the SPF.
