STEP 1 — PREP YOUR SKIN 🫧
GET READY
Before you start dermaplaning, wash your face thoroughly. Make sure there's no makeup, dirt, or oil left behind. This clears your pores and prevents spreading dirt and bacteria while dermaplaning. After washing, gently pat your skin dry with a towel.
Shave in the shower, right after, or after applying a warm towel to your face for a few minutes. This opens up your pores, softens your hair, and hydrates your skin, making it easier for dermaplaning.
[TIP—If it's your first time, stick with it and enjoy the results!]
PROTECT YOUR SKIN
Start by applying about half a dropper of Leaf Shave Oil directly onto your face. Be careful not to touch the glass dropper to your skin to avoid transferring bacteria.
STEP 2 — DERMAPLANE 🪒
THE RIGHT ANGLE
Hold your skin tight with one hand and gently place the blade of the Dermaplaner at a 45-degree angle against your skin with your other hand. Keep the pressure light and use short, gentle strokes moving towards the center of your face. This angle helps cut the hair properly without causing irritation. Avoid using the tool at a 90-degree angle to your skin, as it can lead to irritation.
[TIP—Wondering if you're doing it right? Dermaplaning should feel painless. If you have peach fuzz, use a bright light to see the hair being removed. You might even hear a slight sound, like shaving. Afterward, your skin should feel soft, and the peach fuzz should be gone.]
As you dermaplane your face you can wipe away dead skin and hair from your face and Dermaplaner with a cotton round. Feel free to apply additional Shave Oil where needed as well.
USE ALL OVER
Dermaplane across your full face, adjusting pressure on areas that are not flat. For those areas that are not flat—such as your jawline—it’s helpful to pull your skin up and tight in those areas to ease the glide of the tool along your skin. If you choose to dermaplane areas close to your eyebrows to catch those stray hairs, add the Precision Clip to the head of the Dermaplaner. This will shorten the amount of exposed blade, making it easier for you to precisely tackle smaller areas.
STEP 3 — SKINCARE 🧴
RINSE AND REFRESH
After dermaplaning, rinse and wash your face to get rid of any remaining dead skin cells and peach fuzz. Then, gently pat your face dry with a towel. Keep your Dermaplaner clean for its next use. Here's how: open up your Dermaplaner, take out the blade and blade-guard (making sure to recycle them), and rinse everything with warm water. You can also use a toothbrush and some soap to give it a thorough clean.
APPLY CALMING SERUM
After dermaplaning, your skin might feel a bit sensitive or dry. Calming Serum is packed with antioxidants and omegas 3 and 6, which help lock in moisture, soothe, and rebalance your skin. To help with dryness and redness, apply a full dropper of Calming Serum directly to your face. Avoid touching the dropper to your skin. Calming Serum is vegan and dermatologist-tested, making it safe for sensitive skin. So, feel free to apply it anywhere, especially on your face.
