Yes, the cash-back store credit you get with every eligible purchase expires if unused after 180 days. Every time you get credits those credits are only available for 180 days from the day you earned them.
If you return items that earned you cash-back store credit, those credits will be subtracted from your account total. If you've already used them on follow-on purchases, that amount will be deducted from your refund.
